Follower of Jesus and among the first to reach Jesus' tomb on Easter.
Jesus cured Mary Magdalene of demon possession and she became one of a group of women who followed him and ministered to him, beginning in Galilee (Luke 8:1-3). Mary witnessed the crucifixion and was among the first to visit the empty tomb on Easter and to see the risen Christ. As the first to bear witness to the resurrection (John 20:17-18), some Christian traditions remember Mary as the "apostle to the apostles." Other traditions have identified her as a prostitute, but the Bible provides no basis for this.
