Younger daughter of Saul given to David as wife.
Saul had promised to give David his elder daughter Merab in marriage, but gave him Michal instead for a price of one hundred Philistine foreskins. Michal loved David and when Saul attempted to murder him, she revealed her father's plot to David and deceived Saul's emissaries by placing a dummy in David's bed while David escaped. After David's flight Saul gave Michal to Paltai as wife. Michal was returned to David after Saul's death. Michal's pride and sense of dignity were offended by the David's dance when he brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, and David in fury refused to cohabit with her.
