Passage: Mark 3:13-19

Mark 3:13-19 – Jesus Appoints the Twelve

Summary

Jesus selects twelve of his followers to share in the activity of his ministry.

Analysis

From a mountain setting, Jesus appoints twelve to be with him, to proclaim the gospel, and to exercise authority to cast out demons. This is the Gospel of Mark's only listing of the names of the Twelve.
