A Philistine woman who enticed Samson to reveal the secret of his great strength and then betrayed him to the Philistine leaders.
Delilah was a woman with whom Samson fell in love. He was an Israelite but she was one of the Philistines, the adversaries of Israel. Delilah kept asking to know the secret of Samson's great strength. He gave her false answers until he grew tired of her questions. He finally told her that his hair had never been cut and that was the source of his strength. When Samson fell asleep Delilah cut his hair and gave him to the Philistines who bound and blinded him.
