Isaiah 57:15 – The Holy God Dwells with the Humble
SummaryThe high and holy God dwells also with the humble and the contrite.
AnalysisThis verse echoes the message of Psalm 113, and both texts proclaim the heart of biblical theology. God is the lofty one, the high and holy God, the Creator of all that is! But this same God chooses to make a home with the humble in spirit, the contrite, the lowly, in order to revive their hearts and spirits. Psalm 113:4-7 exults over the same thing in its worship poetry: "The LORD is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap" (NIV).
