The Jewish leader to whom Jesus spoke about being born anew.

Nicodemus was a Pharisee and Jewish leader who sought Jesus secretly by night to hear him teach. He was confused when Jesus told him he needed to be born anew (John 3:1-21). According to John's Gospel, Nicodemus helped Joseph of Arimathea place the body of Jesus in the tomb after the crucifixion (John 19:38-42).
